Cougar Pride

Letter from the Athletic Director

Dave Maggard

The University of Houston is on a quest to return our athletics program to national prominence. When UH was a member of the Southwest Conference and Bill Yeoman, Guy V. Lewis, Dave Williams, and Tom Tellez were bringing national acclaim to our campus, Houston fans felt an overwhelming sense of Cougar Pride. Those were times that established a great tradition. Our goal now is to develop new champions and outstanding teams who will represent UH at the top of Conference USA and instill that pride once again.

Our new conference alignment should be very helpful in terms of building rivalries. Travel for both our teams and fans will be more convenient. Our goal to be at the top of Conference USA can only be accomplished with your help. It is time for the Cougars to "Restore the Roar." This is a time to raise the Cougar flag to higher heights and bring back the "Pride of the Cougars."

Scholarships are the lifeblood of a Division 1A athletics program. For those loyal Cougars who have been supporting UH Athletics, we express great appreciation. We ask that you consider increasing your support so that we may once again become a formidable program at the national level, while providing for the education of more than 300 student-athletes at UH---Your Home Team. We ask that you aid us in identifying prospects for membership in Cougar Pride.

We ask those of you who are not currently active with Cougar Pride to join us in our quest to return excellence to our athletics program. Words cannot express how important each person's participation is. Again, our sincere thanks.

Sincerely,

Dave Maggard
Director of Athletics
