Larry Jackson begins his second season as the Cougars' Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. A former football standout at Texas A&M, Jackson comes to UH from the University of Oklahoma where he spent two seasons as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Sooner program, working specifically with football. Prior to his stint at OU, Jackson worked six seasons at his alma mater in the same capacity. At Texas A&M Jackson played in four bowl games, including three straight Cotton Bowls (1992-94). He concluded his career by participating in the Blue-Gray All-Star Game. Upon his graduation from A&M, Jackson spent four seasons playing in both the National Football League and NFL Europe. Jackson played for the Denver Broncos (1995-96), Arizona Cardinals (1996) and Miami Dolphins (1996-97), and later was allocated to NFL Europe where he played one season for the Barcelona Dragons (1998). Jackson is certified by several organizations: CSCCA Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified; NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist; USAW/Level 1 Certified Club Coach; and First Aid/CPR/AED. He is also a member of American Football Coaches Association, Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association, National Strength and Conditioning Association, and United States of America Weightlifting. Jackson resides in the Houston area with his wife, Amy, and daughter, Kate. |
