Steady performer on the mound for the Cougars all season... Joined Jimmy Cesario on the All-Conference USA First Team... Teamed with Zak Presley on the C-USA All-Freshmen Team... Team leader in ERA (3.00), innings pitched (93.0), strikeouts (73) and opposing average (.246)... Tied for the team lead with 15 starts and six wins... Was the only UH hurler to not make an appearance out of the bullpen... First freshman since Jason Hart in 1991 to earn the team's Opening Day start... Earned the win during his first collegiate start against Stephen F. Austin in the season opener... Struck out one batter while not allowing any hits in three shutout innings against the Lumberjacks...Collected the win against Texas-Arlington during the final day of the Southwest Diamond Classic... Scattered two runs off seven hits with five strikeouts against the Mavericks... Allowed only one hit with a career-best 10 strikeouts in seven shutout innings during the series opener against Princeton... Struck out 10 batters while scattering five hits over eight shutout innings to lead the Cougars during the middle game of the UCF series... Honored as C-USA Pitcher of the Week following that performance... Held No. 23 Tulane to only one run off five hits with eight strikeouts in seven innings during the middle game of the series... Allowed only one run off five hits with five strikeouts in seven innings at Marshall during the middle game of that series... Scattered one run off five hits with six strikeouts in eight innings during the middle game of the East Carolina series. C-USA Tournament: Allowed only one run off six hits and a walk with five strikeouts in eight shutout innings but collected the loss to UCF in a 1-0 shutout.

HUDSON HIGH SCHOOL
Lettered for head coach Glen Kimble... Taken in the 46th round by the Houston Astros during the annual First-Year Player Draft in 2005. Senior (2005): Helped lead the Hornets to the Regional Finals on the way to being named District 21-3A Co-Most Valuable Player... Posted a perfect 9-0 record in district games only with a 0.30 ERA and 118 strikeouts in 46.1 innings... Also batted .514 with a pair of home runs and 16 RBIs... Struck out 13 batters in the first game of the best-of three Region finals... Tossed three no-hitters and four one-hitters... Named the Most Valuable Player of the 32nd Annual Texas High School Baseball Coaches All-Star Game after throwing seven strikeouts and allowing only one hit in three innings. Junior (2004): Honored as the District 20-3A Most Valuable Player... Was a member of the Class 3A All-State Team by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association... Helped lead the Hornets to a District championship with a 13-1 team record and a berth in the regional quarterfinals... Finished with a 6-0 record and minuscule 0.70 ERA in 40 innings of work... Struck out 91 batters while allowing only 14 hits.
