Men's Basketball Falls To Rice, 65-45

    HOUSTON (AP)(Nov. 21) - Shawn Tyndell scored a career-high 22 points to lead Rice to a 65-45 victory over Houston on Nov. 21.

    Tyndell single-handedly outscored the Cougars 18-11 in the second half as the Owls cruised to victory.

    Mike Wilks added 15 points, while Erik Cooper had 12 and Omar-Seli Mance scored 11 for Rice (2-0).

    After getting off to a slow start, Rice was down 34-25 at halftime. Tyndell then hit three shots in a row to open the second half, sparking a 24-5 scoring drive in the first 13 minutes of the second half.

    Rice outscored Houston 40-11 during the final 20 minutes of play.

    Patrick Okafor led all Houston scorers with 9 points and 9 rebounds. Alton Ford, Chad Hendrick and Dominic Smith each added 7 points for the Cougars (1-2).
