Golf Closes Regular Season With 13th Place Finish At River Landing Intercollegiate

Individual Results in PDF Format Combined Results in PDF Format WALLACE, N.C. - The University of Houston golf team closed out the regular season with a 13th place finish at the River Landing Intercollegiate. Jordan Irwin was UH's top individual, shooting a three-round score of even-par 216 to finish in a five-way tie for 11th. Irwin had rounds of 71, 71 and a final-day 74. Also in action for the Cougars was Steven Frazier (74-80-71, 225, t-54th), Ben Moser (79-79-75, 233, t-75th), Brady Shivers (75-82-76, 233, t-75th) and Jackie Lindsey (80-79-78, 237, t-80th). Houston fired its best team round of the tournament on the final day of competition, tallying a 296 to give the Cougars a three-round score of 904. Duke fired a tournament-low round of 277 Sunday to earn a nine-shot victory. The Blue Devils finished at 851 (-13) besting second place N.C. State (860/-4), Memphis (864/E), Wake Forest (868/+4) and Florida State (870/+6). The Blue Devils' Michael Schachner won individual medalist honors after scoring a birdie on the first playoff hole. He finished tied with Wake's Webb Simpson after the players shot 209 (-7) for the tournament.
This weekend's tournament marks the Cougars' final regular-season event. Houston will compete at the Conference USA Championship on April 20-22 in Texarkana, Texas, at the Texarkana Country Club. |
