Golf Team Hosts All-American Intercollegiate Invitational Golf Tournament

HOUSTON-- The University of Houston men's golf team will host the All-American Intercollegiate Invitational Tournament on Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 25-26, on The Tradition Course at Cypresswood Golf Club. The Cougars will host the AAII at the 7,220-yard, par-72 course for the third straight season. Included in the twelve-team field are Arkansas-Little Rock, Baylor, Jacksonville State, Kansas, Lamar, Louisiana-Lafayette, Middle Tennessee, New Mexico State, North Texas, Texas Southern and Texas State. The first round will tee off Monday at 8 am with the afternoon session scheduled to begin at 1 pm The final round is slated to begin at 8 am Tuesday morning. Started under legendary head coach Dave Williams back in 1955, the All-American Intercollegiate Invitational has enjoyed a long and prosperous history. The tournament has played well for the Cougars over the years as they are the all-time tournament leaders in team championships with 23 as well as individual championships with 21. Houston last won the team title in 2006. Jordan Irwin's 13th-place finish was the Cougars top individual performance in last year's event. Jackie Lindsay also closed with a final round 4-over-par and a three-round total of 233. This year, Houston enters the contest looking to improve on its 12th-place finish at last week's GADO/North Texas Classic.
