UH Golfers Improve 10 Shots in Second Round of UNLV Intercollegiate
Ormsby Fires Three-Under 69 Saturday
Las Vegas, Nevada (March 10) - The University of Houston golf team trimmed a full 10 shots off its opening round score to post a three-over par total of 291 in the second round of the Las Vegas Intercollegiate Invitational Saturday afternoon in Nevada. With a ten-shot improvement the Cougars (592 strokes, +16) are in ninth place in the 15-team field and 21 shots behind tournament leader Georgia Tech, the No. 2 ranked team in the country. Individually junior Wade Ormsby paced the UH scoring with a three-under par score of 69. Ormsby is tied for 12th place overall in the field of 75 individuals. Senior All-America candidate Andy Sanders followed up a 72 on Friday with a two-over 74 on Saturday. Sanders is tied for 17th with a two-over par 146. Jeff Quinney of Arizona State lead the tournament with 8-under 136. Sunday's final round will begin at 9:30 a.m. central time.
