Dallas, Texas - Senior pitcher Angel Shamblin was named the Conference USA Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week as announced by the conference office on Monday.

The Davie, Fla., native registered three wins last week, including two in a 3-0 sweep of Marshall to open conference play. She struck out 14 batters in 20.0 innings of work, allowing just three runs and one walk.

Shamblin's 0.71 ERA paces the league and she is now 14-1 in the circle this season. She holds a .167 batting average in conference games and her 14 wins are most in C-USA this season.

This is Shamblin's 12th career pitcher of the week award and her third this season.

Houston will be back on the field Tuesday for a single game against No. 24 Virginia Tech at 6pm. They will also play at No. 19 Ohio State in a double-header on March 19. First pitch is slated for 1pm. The Cougars will return to their home field for a weekend series against Southern Miss on March 21-22.
