HOUSTON - The University of Houston softball team returns home for a weekend series against Conference USA foe Southern Miss on March 21-22. First game of the Friday double-header will begin at 1pm on Friday with the final game on Saturday set to start at 1pm.

No. 11 Houston is 25-4 this season and 3-0 in C-USA play. Houston will be back on their home field after an 11-game road streak where the Cougars went 9-2, including a 3-0 sweep of Marshall to open conference play.

The Cougars are 18-11 all-time against the Golden Eagles. Last season, Houston swept Southern Miss 3-0 in Hattiesburg, Miss., during the regular season.

Southern Miss is 14-15 this season and 2-4 in C-USA. Jennifer Fox leads the team with a .358 batting average and she is among four players with a team-leading two home runs. Pitcher Samantha Davis paces the Golden Eagles with a 2.31 ERA and she is 6-5 this season.

Junior Laurie Wagner is hitting a team-best .419 batting average. Senior pitcher Angel Shamblin is 14-2 in the circle this season and she holds a team and league-best .067 ERA.

Shamblin was named the C-USA Pitcher of the Week for the second-straight week after registering three wins last week, including two in a 3-0 sweep of Marshall to open conference play. She struck out 14 batters in 20.0 innings of work, allowing just three runs and one walk.

Following the Southern Miss series Houston will remain on their home field when the host Memphis on March 29-30.
