Austin, Texas- - The University of Houston women's track and field team won two events and had a second-place finish in the heptathlon at the Texas Relays on April 3-6 in Austin, Texas.

Julie Perez won the women's steeplechase with a time of 10:53.62 and Houston's 4x100-meter relay team won the invitational relay with a time of 45.59.

Freshman Krystal Ward was the runner-up in the women's heptathlon and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships with 5,286 points.

Jessie Oakes was third in the steeplechase behind Perez and with a career-best time of 10:58.84.

Alicia Cave finished fifth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.36 seconds, Heather Howse was fifth in the 10,000 meter run with 36:50.50 and Jasmin Jackson was fifth in the women's long jump with a legal leap of 19 feet, 11 ¾ inches.

Briana Bassler was ninth in the heptathlon with 4,633 points and Houston's 4x800-meter relay team was 11th overall with a time of 9:21.95.
