Philadelphia, Pa. - The University of Houston's Lauren Smith had a time of 13.73 seconds for a fifth-place finish in women's 100-meter hurdles championship at the Penn Relays.

Indiana's Danielle Carruthers won the race in 12.94 seconds, while LoLo Jones of LSU was second in 13.20 seconds. Tiffany Ross of South Carolina was third in 13.41 and Georgia Tech's Alisha McClinton was fourth in 13.60 seconds.

Smith also ran on three relay teams for the Lady Cougars. She ran the third leg of Houston's 4x100-meter relay team that finished sixth in the collegiate championships with a time of 44.88 seconds.

She also ran the anchor leg for the Lady Cougars' shuttle hurdle relay team finish third in 55.34 seconds. In addition, Smith ran the anchor leg for Houston's 4x400-meter relay team that finished second in the collegiate division with a time of 3:41.88.

In the men's division, freshman Andrew Carruthers had a time of 52.75 seconds and finished in 13th place in the men's 400-meter hurdle championships.

The Cougars' 4x100-meter relay team finished fourth in the collegiate division and 11th overall with a time of 40.68 seconds.
